introduction

The Bachelor of Applied Visual Imaging at UCOL Palmerston North is designed to help you develop a broad range of market based visual imaging skills for employment. A large part of the programme is self-directed, and to gain full benefit from the course, you should allow at least 20 hours per week outside studio time to complete assignments.

bachelor of applied visual imaging

The three-year full time Bachelor of Applied Visual Imaging builds on the success of the existing arts courses at UCOL. It places an emphasis on the visual image and the practical and applied nature of the degree.

UCOL has recognised that, increasingly, students and industry alike require educational programmes in visual imaging to contain cognitive, academic and practical skills that are directly relevant to the workplace. The Bachelor in Applied Visual Imaging has been developed to meet these requirements.

The programme offers extensive options and flexibility, allowing you to fine tune your career opportunities by choosing your own mixture of subjects, and even exiting with either a certificate or diploma after year one or two if desired.

At the end of the three-year programme students will have an extensive portfolio of work and will be able to apply a range of high-level conceptual, creative and technical skills into areas they have individually targeted as potential markets for employment or self-employment.
